Once laid the paving should be left for a minimum of 24 – 48 hours to allow for the mortar to set. Within 3 – 7 days the mortar should be fully set. A period of 6 weeks should be allowed to let the paving weather in before a good quality suitable sealant can be applied to a clean, dry surface following manufacturers instructions. Sealants protect the stone from accidental staining as well as making it easier to clean. Once sealed cleaning should be achieved using warm soapy water and a stiff brush. Power washers or acid cleaners should not be used as this can cause irreparable damage to the stone and damage mortar joints.
